Well, there had only been one, but it put up quite a chase around the galleries after it was spotted eyeing the Weyrleader's hand while he was napping. Ellamariseth was no help, getting in the way while trying to eat the critter. Pinned by the gardener Iroha, the snake turned its teeth onto the teenager and finally managed to escape the panic in the galleries. Fortunately on her way in Chaise managed to kill it, but that did not put the Weyrwoman's worries to an end.
After making sure that the two girls' bites were treated, Ysa eventually made her way to the Headwoman. Residents and candidates alike are now on schedule for a new chore: Hunting snakes all around the hatching grounds (whether there actually /is/ a nest around there or not) and keeping them away from her snake-hungry queen.
