Some might have noticed the temporary departure of Zaqalekhth from the sands — just long enough for a hatching at Telgar, coincidentally enough. While the knowledge of the clutch sired on Keonath hasn't precisely been public knowledge — M'gaal certainly hasn't been one to talk about it, at any rate, and good luck with any dragon trying to talk to Zaq — it does seem to explain the occasional odd foray made by the bronze in the dead of night or the extended hunting trips he was rumored to take. And, maybe, it might explain just why the bronze has been … well, cranky.
It is somewhat telling that most of his time has been spent at Ista, however; perhaps due to the double clutch or, perhaps, the smaller size of the clutch that warranted his attention most. Then again, it could just be that he liked the cut of Miraneith's jib a bit more — including her brand of possessiveness over the eggs.
In either case, Zaq returned promptly to his place on the sands afterward and M'gaal has returned to his usual spot in the galleries, at long last allowed to take a proper nap.
