Description
Curiously enough, for as bear-like and big as Katalian is, he has a baby face. He's build stout and barrel-chested, more wide than he is tall - five feet and seven inches is the maximum of his length - with wide shoulders and bulky muscles even for his tender age of sixteen turns. His coloring is dusky, a hint of olive underneath his burnished tan, and his hair is only a few shades darker, though on the curly and wild side. Green eyes, surrounded by girl-like lashes, stand out amongst his features, as round as they are unusual looking. All the rest is bland: short nose, plump lips, and a dimple in his chin.
As for his dressing style, he prefers fitted breeches, tunics with vests or jackets, and belts. And any candidate will know that he prizes his boots, which he shines to a considerable luster at the start and end of every day.
History
A long line of woodcrafters has led to the birth of Katalian. His father, his mother, his uncles and aunts, and his cousins are all from the wood craft. It was only expected that he, once he showed promise and reached his majority, would follow in their footsteps. And he did, making a good showing and rising quickly enough into the ranks of Senior Apprentice. Everyone was proud and happy, and his cousins also apprenticing in the craft couldn't be more joyed to have another of their own.
But that was the plan /they/ created for him, and despite loving what he did, Katalian thought something was amiss. He didn't know what until the dragons came to the Hall, searching for candidates. When a bluerider approached him, he didn't know what to think, and then an idea solidified in his mind. He, Katalian, would stand for the clutch and possibly become a dragonrider - THAT would be a destiny only he could make, of his own volition.
