Swim Race

Ista Weyr - Main Beach

The famous black sands of Ista spread out about the great cove upon which the weyr has been built, gleaming under the rays of both sun and moon, like diamonds in their own pristine beauty. Caught between the brilliance of the deep, verdant greens of the forest, and the crystalline blues of the shallows, gradually deepening their colour deeper into the great ocean, the beach is no less striking, truly beautiful in its own way.

The hot, heavy rays of the sun reach deep into these sands, forever blazing underfoot, although the water remains cool and refreshing even upon the hottest of days, never quite reaching the point of being tepid. Off to one side, coming from the plateau, a small, thin waterfall, empties into a catching pool that runs off into the water through dark sand and pebbles.

Gathod wanders onto the beach from the rocky area of the weyr, waving his hands around, "Go on! Beat it! I've already got one!!!" It would seem that the boy isn't alone. A large group of wild firelizards keep flying and zipping around his hair, which is covered in some sort of sweet smelling goop. "By the First Egg Weylin, you just HAD to find the largest fruit in the bunch, didn't you?" He sighs and continues trying to wave the firelizards away from his head, much to the amusement and chittering of them.

Shorynia's lithe form is out in the water, but approaching the shore at a reasonable speed until she emerges just as Gathod's firelizard escorts herd him to the beach. Scantily cut orange and black bikini barely covers the necessary bits, but she doesn't seem to notice. Instead, she smiles softly, "Gathod. I didnt' realize you were part runner to be herded by lizards. Ah, well. Queen?" The last name is a summons and the little green appears, hissing at the wilds. Stop bothering my pet's friend.

Gobhan comes walking down the beach to see a flurry of firelizards frantically favoring fruit. A frustrated fellow flails faultlessly but fails to flee them.

With the arrival of Shorynia's firelizard, the wild ones are quickly dispersed by her display. Realizing they've dispersed, Gathod calms himself. Spotting Shorynia, he waves to her, "Ah, Shorynia! Thanks. Seems my little buddy here decided to go on a food run…then he brought it back here and perched on my head to eat the fruit. The goop got stuck in my hair and apparently he was soooo excited about how good it tasted, he communicated it to the nearby wild ones. And you saw the end result."

Shorynia chuckles, "No worries. Queen seems to have the knack for getting rid of the wild ones when she wants to." She grins, "Do you have a suit? You might want to…" she motions to the water, "For your- oh, hey Gov." She grins over at the seacrafter, "How's your latest carving coming?"

Gathod nods to Shory, "Yea, Weylin can get it for me, he's pretty much got the hang of /between/." Pausing a moment, Gathod thinks and Weylin suddenly poofs out. A moment or two later, and the little firelizard reappears, clutching a pair of swimming trunks in his talons. After taking them from Weylin and thanking him with a chin scratch, Gathod proceeds over behind a group of rocks and trees to change.

Gobhan reaches in to the haversack hanging from the strap off his left shoulder and pulls out a piece of driftwood that is slowly taking the form of a curving fish, wide fanned tail taking almost lyrical moves. "Still working on it a little. Little bit at a time."

Shorynia whistles softly, "It's quiet lovely, Gov. You up for a swim?" She glances at Gathod, "That is of course if, unlike Tig, you're not afraid of the water." She grins, "Gov'll win, but races are still always fun."

Gobhan looks out at the ocean with one eye on the obviously lovely Shory. "I could be convinced," he says, slipping the fish back into the sack.

Gathod grins, "We'll see about that. Besides, I need to get this goop out of my hair. That and the mining dust." He comes out from behind the rocks and wanders down to the water.

Shorynia grins, "Good. I miss a good competitive swim. Now get in your shorts and come race me to the island, eh?" She grins, turning to move back towards the water, presumably with Gathod and Gobhan following the swinging butt.

Gobhan just pulls the strap ofhis shoulder, pulls his shirt off and stuffs it in the haversack. "I'm ready! I was born on the water, baby!" He charges into the surf like a fish going home.

Gathod nods and picks up the pace, jogging into the breaking shore and once the water becomes deep enough he dives forward, his body sliding into the water with a swoosh

Shorynia dives into the water, starting to swim outward from the beach. It's a nice day, after all. She gets out a little ways before she stops, treadign water, "Welcome to Ista's seas."

Gobhan sets a pace, slipping through the water. He frolicks. Up and down, a quick breath and he's down, then further out he almost leaps from the water, flipping back in another dive.

With his lessons with the harpers over for the time being, Adouzhi is headed down to the beach, carrying a towel with him. He spots those already in the water, and wave to them. "Hello, looks like I'm not the only one that decided to come cool off, huh?" He asks, and finds a place to set down his towel, before he strips down to his swim trunks, and heads for the water.

Gobhan is busy cavorting in the water.

Shorynia grins as she sees Adouzhi appear and waves for him to join them in the deeper waters before giggling at Gov, "Are you done impersonating a shipfish? Lotrien might try to ride you." after all, he did /kiss/ him.

Gobhan hears that comment. He splashes at Shory. "You jealous?" he playfully taunts. "And wasn't there some talk of a race? We all up for that?"

Adouzhi grins, and wades into the water, diving in once he gets deep enough, only to surface shortly later. "Aaah, just-just what I needed on this warm day." He grins, and laughs as Gov splashes Shorynia.

Shorynia sticks her tongue out at Gov, "Maybe I am, maybe I'm not. If he weren't a candidate I'd kiss him just to prove I can get him too." She grins, splashing him back, "C'mon, Dou, we were just getting ready for a race. Betcha can't beat the seacrafter."

Gathod dips his head underwater, carefully collecting the rest of the goop as it loosens from his hair. As he surfaces, he hands it to Weylin, "Here you little terror, you wanted it, you finish it. The firelizard happily gobbles it down

Adouzhi blinks. "Jealous? Jealous of who?" He asks, and eyes Shorynia for a moment, and raises an eyebrow at the mention of a race, before giving a grin. "Oh I'm definitely up for it." He grins. "Not sure I could beat a seacrafter though. Where are we racing to?" He asks, and looks around.

Gobhan gently bobs in the water, lookingfor a marker at the shore. Then he sees some rocks jutting up. "What is it like by those rocks there?" he asks as he points. "Lots of hard sharp things under the surface that I can't see from here?"

Shorynia chuckles, "Lot gave Gov a little kiss a couple of days ago." She grins broadly and waggles her eyebrows before she glances at Gov's indicated target, "Hmmmm…. It's a little sharp there… maybe there and back, no landing?"

Adouzhi blinks, and laughs. "Oh, I see." He says with an amused grin. "Is he a good kisser?" He jokingly asks Gobhan, and then eyes the rocks, and nods to Shorynia. "I think there and-and back without landing, would be the-the best option." He agrees. "I hate for any of-of us to wind up in the-the infirmary because of a race."

Gobhan says "No, it was…just a little friendly peck on the cheek." He takes a look at where they are. "We need a marker for here…like a big stick stuck upright in the sand…A stuck stick….like a stake. And to be fair we need to have someone wach from the shore to see who really is crossing the finished line first."

Shorynia chuckles, splashing more water at Gobhan, "I don't know. You seemed to like it plenty to me." One brow waggles slightly,t hen she grins, I"m sure someone on shore'll be willing to watch. We can just race t the beach. First one sandy wins."

Gathod looks to Gobhan, "Hmmm…Well Weylin could stay here, perhaps he could be the marker. I'll tell him not to move….much." He chuckles

Adouzhi chuckles. "Sure, that's what they all say." He snickers about the kiss, and hmms, before he looks to Gathod. "That could work." He agrees, and then erks as he hears his name being called. "Oh-oh man, looks I'm going to-to have to take a raincheck on that race guys." He says, and wades ou of the water with a dissappointed sigh. "See you-you guys around!" He says, and gathers up his stuff, before he's running off.

Gobhan waves to Adouzhi. "Later!" he calls out. "Still up for a race?" If your firelizard can watch for the finish line then mine can watch at the turn around point at the rocks. Think that'll work?"

Shorynia chuckles, noting Gov avoiding the topic, "Sure. I'll beat you fair and square, seacrafter man!"

Gobhan smiles and calls back to her, "You're welcome to try! Ready? You ready, Gathod?" He's all ready! And Ketch sails over to the rocks. A race! He knows this!
