Description
Shandraive will grow into himself eventually, but at the moment, it's clear that his body is a work-in-progress. Long limbs, slender frame, boyish face: everything about him underlines the stereotype of youth. Dark brown hair, in an intermediate zone somewhere between curls and waves, falls to just above his expressive brow. His eyes are a muddy green around the outside edge, though they darken to burnt brown near the pupil. Low cheekbones are made more prominent, not by bloodline, but because his face has a stretched look that makes him appear perpetually hungry. His nose is par for the course in his family: fairly nondescript in size, but with a round bulb shape at the end. Cute lips hide his uneven teeth, which are fairly straight on his right, but hopelessly crooked on the left from medical procedues when he was a child. This isn't overly visible during speech and most expressions, but when he smiles, the teeth can be distracting. His chin sports a faint cleft, and like his narrow jaw, it is often peppered with a few days' worth of stubble.
He typically dresses in blacks and greys with the ocassional blue accents to keep him from looking too gloomy.
History
Shandraive is the fourth of eight children in his immediate family, born in Black Rock Hold to Dhevai and Shanojie. His family made their living by raising caprines for meat. When he was young, he supplemented this by trading a caprine kid for a few young chicks, adding chickens to the family's prospects. While he doesn't have many memories of his childhood (partially due to an illness in adolescence), some things are black and white: the older sisters (Kanni +13 and Jashiven +8) are still unapproachable, the Sibling Coalescence (Shandraive, Shendai, Jonne, and Shoje) will always beat The Older Brother (Ennuar), and the parents will never bat an eye, no matter what the kids do.
After the cataclysmic end of his first relationship, seventeen-Turn-old Shandraive left Black Rock Hold to seek his fortune, whatever that was supposed to mean. For the most part, everyone knew he was just escaping memories of the girl and trying to figure out what he wanted (separate from his mother's ambitions for him), but people smiled and nodded as he claimed otherwise.
