DESCRIPTION

From her dark, mahogany red hair to the tips of her small feet, Rayda is all woman. Slightly taller than average, she carries herself with confidence and grace. Falling from a widow's peak on her forehead, her hair hangs to the middle of her back, framing a heart-shaped face. High cheekbones define her features: almond-shaped, blue eyes, a bow-shaped mouth and a straight nose. Her figure can only be called voluptuous, with full bosom, narrow waist and curvaceous hips. She also has shapely legs and slender ankles. Rayda's voice is husky, sounding throaty when she speaks or sings. There's a swagger to her hips when she walks that's turned more than one man's eyes.

Named Zorayda at birth, Rayda was the only daughter of Zoruda and Raylen of Fort Sea Hold. Her two older brothers, Rayoz and Soyda, both apprenticed to the Seacraft like their father. Her maternal grandfather, Zorrun, lived with the family since he lost his arm when his ship, Wavedancer, was damaged in a winter storm. The old man bought a tavern near the docks, at which Rayda and her mother worked. Her father, a Journeyman Seacrafter, took over captaining Wavedancer. Rayda was never given the chance to join a craft, instead learning the bar trade at her mother's side. A bright child, she learned to read, write and cipher, taking care of the books in the Cork & Anchor.

At the age of 16, Zorrun died, leaving the Wavedancer to his son and grandsons. To his daughter-in-law, he left the tavern. Rayda got fifty marks for a dowry, since she was expected to marry some day. Instead, Rayda took the money and bought passage on a ship to Ista Hold. She packed her bags, left her parents a letter, and slipped out of the house in the middle of the night. A ship sailed on the midnight tide, and she sailed with it.

Rayda fell in love with the tropical heat of Ista, and took to the whole island lifestyle. She got a job as a bartender at a port side bar, and made extra money by playing games of chance. Being pretty and vivacious, seafaring men found her enjoyable company. Unfortunately for them, she wasn't interested in sharing their beds, and kept to herself outside the bar.

After being on her own for two turns, Rayda ran afoul of an unsavory character by the name of Herrell. A former former fisherman turned rogue, Herrell accused Rayda of stealing money from him. A man of no small influence amongst the less honest denizens of the port, Rayda felt it best to leave the hold.

Not having enough money for passage off Ista Island, Rayda made her way to Ista Weyr, hoping the presence of so many dragonriders would deter Herrell from coming after her. Finding two drinking establishments (one in the weyr, one on a nearby island), Rayda set about getting work as a bartender. She found the atmosphere of the Saucy Wench on SandTrap Island much to her liking, and convinced the owner, N'kor, to hire her.

It's been nearly a turn since she started work at the Wench. N'kor and Rayda have a decent relationship on many levels, and after some battling back and forth, she's been made Assistant Manager for the Saucy Wench. She's efficient, and very skilled at running a tavern, keeping things working smoothly when the bronzerider has responsibilities elsewhere.
