Description

Lean and tall, Orohaim doesn't quite fit in with the general flow of the crowd. Sure, he might not be a giant by any means, but he still stands an inch or two taller than many, and still holds that edge of teenage awkwardness about him. Everything about him is long and a little bit too-angular still; arms, legs, torso, all leanly-muscled and olive-toned. He has a healer's hands, with long, deft fingers and short, clean nails — in fact, everything about him is meticulously clean and neat. From his plain, dark brown hair to his cleanly-shaved chin, he is as tidy as can be. Sure, those thick eyebrows might be a little bit on the wild side, but that really can't be helped. Warm, dark brown are his eyes, a shade or two brighter than his near-black hair, and set in an angular, friendly face that's already forming laugh lines.
History
Oro was born to Haisabni and Oretliom of Telgar Weyr; Oretliom, little brother of Reyciore, Rory, was a Miner through and through. He had big hands and a stubborn heart, and tended to be more than a little raucous, though never mean-spirited. Haisabni was a brownrider whose dragon tended towards seclusion from just about everybody including his rider, so while having their weyr expanded so she could have quarters away from his, she and the leader of the team to excavate it grew closer. Both young and a little bit lacking in social niceties, Oretliom and Haisabni grew to be fast friends, whiling away after-shift hours in some half-finished tunnel or other and drinking moonshine that Ore had distilled from what the brownrider was certain was pure fire.
They eventually Weyrmated, and Oretliom spent five solid turns excavating a new weyr for them at ground-level before he would give in to her pleas to start a family. When the warren was finished, though, they quite promptly got on the making babies idea. Haskbai was first, with Orohaim following in short order. Even quicker after Oro was another little boy, Wainott, conceived mere months after his own birth and Orelnoes a turn later. The boys would make life for their cousins difficult, tormenting twins Y'wai and N'wai before they'd ever Impressed their dragons. Orohaim was just barely five when he first met Reilory, daughter of his aunt Rory who he, of course, adored. He followed the girl around like a puppy during her Candidacy and was probably the one most pleased when she Impressed her little green Sanldoth.
When Oro was seven, his world was shaken up quite thoroughly — even as O'rly and her dragon were graduating and could /take/ him places, Haisabni got pregnant once more. Not only that, but nine months later the baby revealed herself to be female…he was less tham impressed by this new, wiggly pink thing. Still, he helped his mother whenever he could, only too happy to go off to be apprenticed after a few years at a whole twelve turns old. He had no aptitude for mining — and, in fact, had a particular dislike for caves like his own home — and the dragons turned their noses up at him, so the boy picked the only craft that really appealed to him: Healers. He was probably influenced by his family, by the frequency with which certain friends of the family were injured and the need for good healers, but aren't all young boys quite impressionable?
So he moved off to Healer Hall, an Apprentice under Master Eanfyn. Eanfyn was a difficult master, an utter perfectionist who never accepted less than the absolute best his two apprentices could give him. Apprenticed with a slightly older girl at the time, Oro had a lot of catching up to do, but he progressed as quickly as he could through his studies. Turns passed, and he grew into a persnickety young man, whose quest for perfection was almost always woefully inadequate in his own eyes. Eanfyn was generally pleased with the work he did, but by that time perfectionism had been drilled into Orohaim's very bones and he tended to be more than a little bit obsessive about it. Such it was that he turned down an offer to walk the tables at eighteen, feeling that he wasn't quite ready for the added responsibility — instead, he requested to transfer for further studies in the field he'd chosen to specialize in.
A transfer to Ista Weyr was eventually arranged. Master Ailte specialized in Trauma/Diagnostics and Surgery both — her specialties were exactly what Oro wished to study. She eventually conceeded to his pleas and his Master's encouragements, and Orohaim was carted off to Ista Weyr to start anew.

Firelizards
Eccentric Pyromaniac Brown Rote
Reds and browns blaze here like a fire a-borning, wingsails patterened with ash of black and grey. His head is oddly handsome, dusty brown-black headknobs. His limbs are broad, his wings over-large, as if he could soar forever. Thin wisps of translucent greys rise from his claws up to his back like thin whisps of smoke rising off of him like fumes.
Attempting Humor Brown Sapien
Pale in color, this medium-sized brown firelizard is perfectly proportioned in every way. His coloring is bland, until light hits it in just the right way, and then a pale gold sheen can be seen. The ridges over his eyes are a darker brown, almost black, and the same color merges into his head-knobs. He inspects the world with a curious, interested, genial air, but as much as he imitates the habits of other firelizards, he will always lack a certain warmth.
