Milowyn

Description

Dirty blonde hair falls in layers to her shoulders and appears to be thick, healthy, and glossy. A fringe of bangs reach to her cheekbones and then blend into the rest of her hair, though the mass of bangs constantly fall into her dark brown eyes. Her nose is pert with a slight up-turn to it, while her jaw is definitely square in shape. The rest of the young woman's body is fairly average for a one of approximately average height and weight. Slender, though not bony, her body is carried with a jaunty confidence.

History

Milowyn's parents met at High Reaches Weyr, her mother (Siri) a native brownrider and her father (A'ran) a transferred greenrider from Igen. There was hardly anything temptestuous about the romance between the thirty-somethings, nor was there anything scandalous when the brownrider gave birth to a baby girl. Although Milowyn was raised by the nannies, as her older half-brother was as well, she had contact with both her parents in the evenings and on special occasions, giving her a sense of family. For the most part, Milowyn was a typical weyrbrat - running about the lower caverns, causing her share of mischief in the kitchens, and making friends and enemies (at least until the end of the day) with other weyrbrats. When Milo was eight, her mother experienced a bout of ill-health and the little family relocated to Igen. Siri recovered and flourished, even giving birth to another daughter a turn after her arrival at the desert weyr. Despite an adjustment period, life at Igen continued much as it had for Milo at High Reaches, only with a different climate and new faces to interact with. As she grew older and entered her teens she began to participate in more chores and useful activities, though there was always time for play.

Just as Milo was pondering her future - would she remain at the weyr and find some work, or perhaps join a craft and learn a useful trade? - life became a little sticky. A'ran's patience with the hot-headed Siri waned, while Siri became more and more prone to argumentative outbursts. Frustrated, Siri returned to High Reaches where her parents and siblings still resided, taking with her Milo's little sister. Milo became upset and confused by this apparent rejection and pleaded with her father to take her to High Reaches as well. (It was later clarified that her mother did not wish to remove her daughter from her friends and familiar environment). After Milo indicated she would rather live at the same weyr as her mother, she too moved back to High Reaches.

A few turns later, Milowyn was among those searched out of the residential caverns. She stood on the hot sands and found not only her lifemate, brown Zemesuth, but a young man with similar interests and a penchant for chaos named Gadeion, who impressed blue Svodamirth. With their new lifemates, the friendship between the two weyrlings flourished and together they caused absolutely no shortage of headaches for their weyrlingmaster, J'cob. After graduation there was no need for discussion or debate, it was quite clear they were a pairing and they moved in together.

For a good 10 turns the two lived together at High Reaches, Milowyn as the Deygan Wingleader and D'ion as a craftrider working as an assistant to J'cob when there were weyrlings. After the dragon flu struck Pern and travel restrictions were lifted, Milowyn and D'ion put in a travel request. The poor bluerider's health wasn't doing well in the cold of High Reaches, so the two relocated to the warmer and milder Ista Weyr.

Firelizards

Gold Bubbles
Where most golds carry with them a sense of the refined or the elegant, this firelizard is anything but. There's something about her languid, small movements and the naturally dulled amber of her hide that lends her a look of the lackluster and the weary. Her eyeridges are more pronounced than some, making her whirling eyes appear to be heavily lidded. Even her posture seems less than alert - her back is rounded more often than not, tail resembling more of a lean cord than sinuous muscle. Wings, so dark that they're nearly bronze, unfurl to reveal paper-thin wingsails of pale, washed out cream, the same hue that streaks along her belly and chest before fading out of existence - as if even that cost her effort.

Dragon

Brown Zemesuth

A wash of bold, heat-scorched brown winds about the well-built proportions of this dragon. Charred earth come animate, he has little in the way of variation as far as shading goes but for the exception of his wings. Sturdy spars are touched with subtle accents of sand, the bay tone being predominant in the main bulk of his wingsails while the trailing edges turn crisply dark once again. Broad shouldered and barrel-chested, his muscular magnitude and hulking limbs are needed to support the sizeable wings he sports. Each talon holds the odd distinction of having some pale russet marbling in it, though by far the main hue is the most predominant. A large head is home to portly head knobs and heavy eye ridges, his muzzle somewhat rounded. Neck and tail share similar distribution of lean, working muscle, leaving the majority of his mass in his body. His faceted eyes hold a subtle knowing of some numinous secret.
