Description
Petite and delicate are not the words that described this lady. She is quite tall at just shy of six feet and is in possesion of a well toned figure. Her hands are rough and somewhat stained from all the work that goes into tanning hides for use. She has a heart shaped face with high cheek bones and a sharp nose. Her eyes are a light hazel and look somewhat odd against her pale complection and hidden beneath dark somewhat thick eyebrows that arch perfectly above her eyes. Giving her an intelligent look, and being that her eyes are almost always crinkled in the remains of a smile she seems like a friendly enough person. Her hair, though usually tied up in a ponytail high on her head, is a dark shade of mahagony brown and sits around the area of her shoulder blades when left loose.
She's wearing a pair of brown shorts that hug her upper thighs and leaves the majority of her long legs to be splashed by ocean waves. She's also wearing a red tank top, exposing her arms in hopes of finally getting a tan instead of a burn. On her feet are a pair of light leather sandles that don't do much for keeping sand off her feet when she's walking around, but they're cute and comfortable, so she likes them. Around her wrist is a small woven leather braclet with little beads on it that one of her friends during tanning apprenticeship gave her.
History
Maiken was born the only child of two very loving parents. Sabri and Jerrick didn't have much to offer a child, being that they both worked at a little food shop in the middle of Igen Hold's market district. They worked hard for very little money, but did their best to give their daughter a happy life. That ment however, that early on in life Maiken was left on her own to watch different people in the streets while her parents worked. Those days were good for the little girl though because from an early age the most interesting things she saw were things made by the tanners. When ever she could she'd talk to them about how their wares were made and how she could learn to make it too. One kind man took a liking to her and told her about the tanner craft and if she liked and her parent's agreed he'd take her there so she could learn how to do the things she'd taken such a strong interest in.
Delighted at the prospect, Maiken almost immediatly started trying to convice her parents to let her enter the Tanner craft. Being only ten turns at the time her parents weren't quite sure they wanted her to go off and do that kind of work and at first denied her requests. It took nearly two more turns before she could convince them to let her go. Saying that it would be nice to ahve some friends besides the alley cats near the shop. Her parents decided taht if she was going to cling to this idea for so long that it would proably be best to let her go and she left that very week to become a tanner.
While in the craft she made friends more easily than she thought she would, but when she and some of the other kids where old enough to start wanting to spend more time with eachother on a more personal basis, she was quickly left out of the loop. She was more blunt than most of the boys could really handle and honestly she was taller than most of them at the time which was just plain intimidating to them. It didn't help that when she wanted to she could fight with the best of them and win sometimes. The most attention she ever got was from the girls and even though she was flattered she just didn't find the idea very appealing.
She felt that, even though she enjoyed what she was doing, she was in a rut. Luckily for her she was searched at the age of tewnty-one. Her candidacy was one of the funnest times of her life, ranked number two after first entering her craft. The time flew by quickly with new experiences and more stomach butterflies she thought possible before she was standing on the sands hoping that one dragon would think she was suitable enough to spend their life with. It was there that she met the best man she's ever known in her life. Her brown guardian, Meluth. He has a parental streak a mile and a half wide running through him and he's cared for his rider like she was his own child from the day he was born, giving her her new name and life. Through their weyrlinghood they grew to be the best friends imaginable, understanding one another's need to take care of the other and knowing when to relent on a subject and when to be stubborn. They've had their mishaps but have always come out with a smile and a laugh, as it is thier blessing to find the brightside in almost everything.

Firelizards
Gold Reese
Soft sunlight filters itself upon this gold's hide, the pale yellow hues pooling around each wing joint and spreading to cover her back and torso. Each wingsail is light lemon, while fingertips and spars run slightly darker across it, supporting them to their full length. Limbs are cast into shadow, darkening to an actual golden hue just before each set of dark talons, while the same pattern is mimicked on her tail. A starburst of brighter yellow is settled on the tip of her muzzle before it radiates outward, blending into her body, while true yellow ridges arch down her back.
Brown Wari
A scruffy rust brown stray, this brown's wings were long and thin, meant to carry him far. He has a stubborn cast to his orangebrown features, and markings that make him appear discheveled, almost fluffy. And yet scruffy does not do this pugnacious tawny little brown justice. His headknobs are mobile, twitching like a feline's ears. Forget brown, his neckridges boarder on a mixture of sunset orange and wheaten gold, adding a vivid accent to his lean and muscular body. Stripes ripple a spirited honor guard over his willfull flanks and darken into a rosy golden brown hue over his chest. His front and rear legs are painfully thin, but rippling with muscle and capable of powering him at high speed along the ground. His long tail twitches pridefully just like a tabby cat, often held aloft like an insistant banner. His front talons are exaggerated, very clawlike and fierce, the swinging fists of a ferocious street fighter.
Green Vinya
Dark forest leaves are gathered like the heavy canopies of the forest, a pattern of random hues intermingling over the back of this green. Wings are lightened slightly by sunlight filtering through to the lower levels, spars criss-crossing like branches through the leaves. Spars are slightly brown-tinted as they run down her back, from between small rounded headknobs to her tail. Her belly is lighter, touched with brighter green hues that feather along her neck and between her limbs.
Brown Karasu
Dragon
Brown Meluth
Rich red sandstone coats the hide of this stocky brown dragon making him a brick wall in colouring as well as in size. His legs appear criss-crossed with darker lines, the sparkling texture of granite seeping up from his talons and marking out a brick-like patterning that fades over muscled haunches and vanishes completely as it hits the lines of his body. His neckridges are oddly squared, and his tail is thin for his size - more flagpole than useful appendage. Two dark stripes flare out from his snout, each thickening as they sweep across his face so that they band across his dark eyes and down his neck. His wings are likewise striped, though less noticeably so. The same odd striping occurs all the way along his wingspars, but the sails themselves are pure terracotta.
