Description-
Hallac is pretty average by looks, long-legged and lithe with short brown hair that he lets fly loose as it will. Freckles spackle a somewhat knobby nose between a pair of pale blue eyes that are ever roving. Despite his youth, laugh lines arch around his bowed mouth and below his eyelids. These are emphasized by little white creases on a face that otherwise holds the heavy tan of one who spends too much time at sea.
Where he was once unmarked, Hallac is now riddled with evidence of a body put to hard work. Fresh scars linger over those of his youth, a violent pink compared to his ruddy skin. Sturdy black boots, more likely inherited than his own judging by the well-worn bends and folds, are well-kept. His clothing is loose fitting, long blue trousers and a light, breezy shirt, with boots and pants being exchanged for shorts and sandals as seasons dictate. Plain and simple.
History-
Hallac was born and raised in Ista by Isica and her Seacraft husband Emhall. From an early age, he was taught the importance of being honest, punctual, and an early riser – from the moment he learned how to swim (at the ripe old age of three), Hallac was made to venture out each morning on the "Quinto", his father's boat. There he would help the crew (usually by staying out of their way and napping, when younger), fetching nets, buoys, learning the winds and the tides.
Though he was still pretty young when Sigam finally left to take up studies at Ierne, Hallac found his world shifting in ways he hadn't imagined. For one, he hadn't realized how much work his brother had taken over on the ship, and it was admittedly a struggle to fill those shoes. Time passed, and though Hallac felt as if he were moving through molasses while Cai excelled at baking and his baby sister Esiae grew up, he would soon look back to see that he had changed too. His work wasn't as studied or deft at Sig's had been, but he was methodical, predictable, and a high-energy worker, never giving up from dawn until the boat was parked safely at its dock.
Harper lessons weaved themselves throughout his youth, being taken under their wing to study like any good chit, but it quickly became apparent that Hallac's heart wasn't in it. Writing, records, stiff old documents? How boring! He, like his mother before him, preferred tales to be passed down through verbal tradition, time and opinion adding their own unique spice to what would otherwise be a stagnant genre. Countless nights of his teenage years were spent around campfires with sailors and schoolmates, whiling away nights on shore leave sharing experiences and old legends alike.
But alas, carefree days cannot always persist; when the earthquakes shook Ista, a lot of things changed for the boy and his family. Survivors were naturally accepted into their home, and instead of doing her usual fishing rounds, the "Quinto" and her crew were employed to help fetch and distribute goods, as well as ship survivors and their remaining belongings to the various weyrs and holds around the island. The experience has left Hallac a little more jaded and a lot more tired than usual, but with the upcoming Weyr Sale planned, the boy looks forwards to the return of at least a bit of Ista's peace and a relaxation of the atmosphere. It is apparent that the boy fully intends on joining in the upcoming festivities.

Tidbits-
- Hallac couldn't be more awkward; he's hit that stage of life where everything's turning from Personal Fable to Holy Shit, and one could definitely say that it's throwing him for a loop. The world doesn't revolve around him? People aren't watching and scorning his every move? He's not immortal and could die?! What? Since when?
- Hallac's voice definitely doesn't crack randomly. Totally not. He has a rather squeaky leftover cough though. >.>; <.<;
- Hal's never broken a bone. Ever. His shipmates call him Lucky because of it, but really, he'd sort of like to get the first one over with so he's not crippled by pain and useless when it happens on the ship.
- Hallac is entirely devoted to his family. His sisters he defends from bullies, he defends the honor of his mother and father, and he even threatened to stomp down to the weyr proper and clobber someone when he heard that Sigam had been imprisoned there. Luckily he didn't, but he thought about it!
- Hallac enjoys entertaining himself with such fantasies as the above. Where he's a normal Seacraft apprentice in real life, he is a hero in his daydreams.
