F 'lip

Description

Fillip is a scrawny adolescent male, somewhere in mid puberty. A gaunt face looks out of a fuzz of short, almost brutally so, black hair. His face is just a little too sharp and hollow to call handsome, his skin looks almost as if it clings to his skull, his nose jutting out almost like a beak. The effect might have given him a dark mystery, if it wasn't for the bane of all teenagers Acne. The numerous pimples spatter his cheeks and forehead, covering where his hairline might have been if it was not so short. Another factor that spoils the dark mystery is his eyes, where you might expect two cold depths, in fact you are greeted by a pair of bright, warm brown irises, looking out with a friendly, almost curious twinkle.

His body imitates the elongated, undernourished look. Thin, long arms end in bony digits. His chest is tight to his frame. The image is completed by his gawky legs, too long for his body, and imbued with the typical clumsiness that comes with pre adult-hood.

History

Fillip spent a rather uneventful young life. Born to a resident of the lower caverns in Ista Weyr, he was a rather active and curious child, often being right at the centre of some loud crash or noise. Once he was able to talk, surprised or angry adults finding him covered in flour or some such would be treated with a big wide eyed, friendly smile, and the excuse of "I was just looking!".

Growing up didn't seem to curb his enthusim for 'experimenting,' until he poked a pan of boiling water too much. Badly burned from the experience on his right arm and chest, he settled down somewhat from this at the age of eight. Perhaps another factor that leant to this calming down came from another source: It was during the time he speant healing from his encounter with the water that he heard a, rather dramatised, account of the when the weyrs rid Pern of Thread.

An already rather impressionable young child, Fillip already had a fascination with dragons. What the tale gave him was a new love, one of books and one of space. Once fully healed, except for the scars that will stay with him forever, he spent his first bits of free time in the records, asking questions, trying to learn what he could about space, about the Red Star, about history. Perhaps more to stop him pestering than anything else, he was soon put to use copying out records from one source to another. An activity that seemed to take perhaps a little longer than it should for him, but once those in charge saw how neat his handwriting was, this was soon forgotten.

Growing up from his tenth year onwards presented all the problems that growing teenagers often encounter. Singled out by some of his peers, mostly for the fact they seemed to do more physical work than him, he lost touch slightly with his peers, finding friendship with those older than him normally. That's not to say he didn't pull his own share of physical work, not even he could argue that all his waking hours should be spent in a stuffy room writing out records. Later on, as puberty started to kick in, this treatment settled down. Mostly due to a new maturity felt by most his age, and those few who saw fit to keep the treatment up became fewer and fewer.

Blue Ferioth
What he lacks in size, this little blue dragon makes up for in colouration and presence. His tiny head, muzzle slightly flattened, is highlighted in cobalt, darker over the crown and with a pale, powder blue streak that encircles his muzzle and trails down his throat. His torso and legs seem to be larger than the proportion of his body might recommend but are shaded in such a pure sky blue that such an oddity does not matter. A short tail, too broad for elegance, is streaked with darker hues, the tip bordering more on midnight, a feature reflected in his wingspars as well. His wings themselves are a different matter - as elegantly formed as a tailored cloak they fall in ever brightening swirls, shading to almost white along the trailing edge of the small sails.
