Description

Edwyn is a pale creature, obviously born in a northern Hold. Her skin is a pale and easily sunburnt cream; her face already freckled from frequent sun exposure. She has pale green eyes, pale blond lashes and pale, thin eyebrows. Her nose is small and slightly upturned at the end. Her cheeks are heavily freckled, as is her small chin. Her lips are rosy pink and full, also easily burnt by the unforgiving sun. Her strawberry blond hair is kept long, tied in a loose braid. Average height and weight, she's definitely not athletic; her figure is soft rather than toned.

History

Edwyn was born on a small cothold outside of Telgar Hold, where her family worked as farmers. They were lucky enough to own their own small cottage and a few fields. They grew enough to sustain themselves as well as do their part for the main Hold. Life was comfortable.
Edwyn came along towards the end of her mother's childbearing Turns. She was the third girl, and the fifth child of seven. When she showed talent at Harpering in her childhood, her parents fostered her to a family in Telgar Hold so that she would have the opportunity to study under the Hold's Harper. Her talent was good enough to get her admission to the Harper Hall, and at the age of twelve, she apprenticed.
She was a good student, neither the best nor the worst, and enjoyed her studies as much as the next student. She displayed an early aptitude for organization and history, and was quietly encouraged to "study ahead" of her classmates. She received her full apprentice knot midway through her fourteenth Turn.

During her fifteenth Turn she was found acceptable for a clutch. Her head filled with the stories of old, of the grandeur of the dragonriders and the wonder of being 'worthy', Edwyn accepted her Search without much thought to the consequences. When she was granted permission by her Masters, Edwyn took off for the Weyr and hardly looked back. Reality returned when she did not Impress that Hatching. Edwyn was faced with the difficult decision of whether or not she should return to her Craft, or stay in the Weyr that had become her home. She also secretly harbored the hope of Impressing when the next Clutch was laid, even if it was Turns away. Her adolescent-self won over her mature-self, and she decided to stay at the Weyr.
Turn after Turn, Hatching after Hatching, Edwyn was left disappointed on the Sands. After her twentieth Turnday, Edwyn decided enough was enough. She was tired of the stress of candidacy and the heartache of not being chosen. Her future as a Harper was gone, and it was clear she would never be a dragonrider. She turned her attention to finding a worthy job at the Weyr, to earn her keep. With her previous talent of organization, recordkeeping, and love of history, she decided to try and find a place for herself in the record rooms as a librarian.

Firelizards
Quill
This little firelizard has a somewhat lanky and homely appearance to him. His coloration is most unusual, indigo blue on the underbelly, legs, and tail sweeping up to what looks like nothing more than a pair of suspenders over his shoulders. The 'suspenders' cross in the back, to join up with the indigo blue of his tail, like a pair of denim overalls. His wings and spars are caressed in brush strokes of cornflower and cerulean, all swirled together in a patternless pattern, like a man's work shirt. His headknobs are perhaps the most unusual of all, odd hints of gold peeking through lapis as if he were wearing a hat. Each talon is tipped with claws the same shade as his 'overalls', glittering brightly in the ambient light.
