Description
Aliona is a young woman of average height, with a slender build and tan skin. Her straight black hair reaches just past jaw length, shorter lengths framing an oval-shaped face. Set on either side of a small nose, her dark blue eyes partially hide under long lashes and curved brows the same colour as her hair. Aliona appears to be in her mid teens.
A light, baggy tunic drapes over Aliona's form, tumbling from shoulders to mid-thigh in a patchwork of bright colour. Sleeves are nearly as long as the body, extending past her fingertips when not pushed up around her wrists. Trousers beneath are simple and cream-coloured, hugging close to her thighs before flaring out at the knee to kiss the top of each foot in a wide circle. Flat shoes, sturdy and yet delicate, formed for a woman's foot, peek out from beneath the hems of her trouser legs.
She wears the white knot of an Istan candidate, but still proudly displays the badge of one of the travelling families on a thin leather band around her neck.
History
"Well it ain't like I chose it." It could easily be Aliona's mantra considering how often she's spoken those words over the course of her life. Her life, in general, has been fairly simple. Born into a group of travellers she's seen more of the world than a lot of people ever manage, but at the same time she's had far less education than most as well. It was a stop at Ista that turned her mostly happy life upside down.
While the rest of the group sold their wares, bartered, and in some cases made nuisances of themselves, Aliona did what she does best - showing off. One of the first things she ever learned was to ride and perform some tricks, and she was standing on the back of her runner when it caught a foot in a hole and stumbled, gifting her with a personal introduction to the Istan soil. She landed badly, dislocating her shoulder and requiring time in the infirmary immobilised. The travellers moved on without her, leaving behind a promise to send word from each stop so that she could beg a ride and catch up to them, or they would collect her again when next they came to Ista.
Released from the infirmary she divided her time between the dock, the beach, and the lounge, generally getting under people's feet while waiting on the letter that seemed like it was destined to never arrive. Her favourite place eventually became the forest, specifically one particular tree that she liked to hang from and watch the world go by, and it was here that she was found the first time it was hinted at that she needed to become a more pro-active member of the weyr. It was never an order, only ever hints, but she eventually gave in and sought out an assistant headwoman who was all too happy to give her a resident's knot and set her to work. For anyone that asks she still insists it's only temporary, but only time will tell how true that remains.

Firelizards
| Sunrise's Chipper Cheer Green Medley Teeny, tiny. This little firelizard is almost petite, her short little snout blunted and snubby, the greens of her hide mottling in bands that make her look all the smaller. Itsy bitsy toes are on equally undersized feet, the talons at the ends a soft leafy shade, though the pointy tips indicate they're nevertheless quite sharp. A long tail at least adds a bit of length to an otherwise rounded body, fading about halfway down to a deeper, more teal-like hue. Wingspars are likewise darkened, the shadowed undersides almost mossy in appearance, though that same patterning is present to a lesser degree in half-circles of darkness just behind and below her jaw, the curve of her head mirroring it to a degree as well, but more subtly. It continues down her short neck, and over slender shoulders, wings compact but muscular, more than strong enough for flight with again a repeating, barely-visible design over the delicate membranes. Only the very middle of her chest and belly show a bit more brightness, like sun-dappled foliage it fades back into the overall mixture of similar colors toward her sides. |
| Cute and Fuzzy Brown Teddy Short, fat, and proud of that, that describes this brown fire lizard to a tee. A certain softness seems to cling to him that has nothing to do with the even, medium brown hues of his hide, as excess weight seems to gather around his middle, around his limbs, and even cling to his tail. Wings are large enough to support his bulkier than average form, certainly, as khaki sails stretch between each spar, and facetted eyes are set deep on his flattened face - a picture of cuteness. |
