Ae'ran

Description

Looking much older than his age makes Ae'ran a bit intimidating, coupled with his broad shouldered, well muscled, build and his height of 6'2". He bears a rather palid skin tone, a pale cream to pink hue but only freckles along his arms. His shaggy somewhat unkept mane of strawberry blond hair is in need of a trim but his face is clean shaven save for rather blond mustache. His brows share the same pale white gold hairs, making him look almost eyebrowless against his almost spotless white forhead, a trait gained from his hat-wearing habit. His eyes are an almost turquoise blue laced with paler shades, appearing as if filled with electricity almost all the time. And he seems none too ashamed of the white blonde fur-like hair along his arms.

He's dressed rather casually, but with island flair. A black shirt, black slacks, but a brilliantly colored over shirt with sunset reds and oranges coupled with deep blues and golds in the pattern of some dolphins leaping against the setting sun. He's got on a black hat much resembling a fidora, and his blue tinted night glasses on.

On his shoulder he wears the knot of a wingrider of Ista with the bronze thread of him lifemate Knephyth. Beside it a badge for the Tiger's Eye wing.

History

Was born to Iea, daughter of a Beast Crafter in Telgar Hold who'd left the world of noisy and smelly animals behind when she was Searched for Ista Weyr by S'ran, rider of brown Wrapeth. This resulted in a pairing, but not of the human-dragon kind. After not impressing, Iea decided to take up kitchen work in the Weyr. As was perhaps inevitable, S'ran's attention remained caught by the quiet but willful girl he'd brought over and sought her for a weyrmate. And thus Iaeran was concieved and born.

Grew up by his mother's own nurturing in Ista among the other weyrbrats. Life was good chasing firelizards, running around the feeding grounds playing games untill they'd get caught and shooed out from around the large animals' hooves. Iaeran was, for his own part, the most mischevious of his little rabble. The instigator, he'd lead them on dozens of make-believe adventures which got them all in loads of trouble whenever and wherever possible. Such is the nature of little boys.

As he grew his nature began to get the better of him. His size too. He hit six foot at the age of 12. He was no longer a little kid where a slap on the backside and a timeout were sufficient for him. He could hit back if he wanted, though he never did. He would laugh when threatened with punishments. Iea wasn't sure what to do when the boy hit 14 and started to stirr up more trouble and pick more fights then even the weyrstaff knew what to do about. By S'ran's suggestion Iaeran was sent to his grandfather's in Telgar Hold and taught to work with and for the animals. Maybe if they put him to work he'd start shaping up.

His grandfather was a rather cranky older gentleman who wasn't about to be scared up over a 14 year old boy who'd now was 6'2" and was built much like a bull herdbeast in body structure alone. Up at dawn, out to check the animals, feed 'em, clean their stalls. That's how things were to be done. Any complaining and they were only doubled on. At first Iaeran tried to avoid the work entirely, refusing to do it. "Alright," His granddad said. "Then you'll have to do on your own for meals. You gotta earn 'em here." Eventually he gave into his stomach and begrudgingly set to work. Iaeran didn't admit it right away but the boy began to like it. Bit by bit he started to settle down, fixated on both work and the animals. He loved the runners, but really admired the herdbeasts aswell, as stupid as they could sometimes be.

Much to the delight of his parents at his reported progress, at 16, the boy was sent home. He was now very much grown into himself, steady at his 6 feet 2 inches and a complete gentleman. At least that's how his parents and the weyrstaff see him. He's not lost his wild side, but put it to better use among his friends and in his jobs - -for there are many- - working with diligence.

While at Ista he was searched to stand for Gold Umniyath and Bronze Vsonath's clutch. He didn't expect much, spending most of his time working with his runners or helping out with major projects around the weyr… so when he impressed Bronze Knephyth (becoming one vowel less—Ae'ran), the volcanic bundle of disruptive energy, he was suddenly faced with his own inner desires and childhood nature all over again.

Weyrlinghood made him some of the strongest friends in a few of his clutchmates who all took Knephyth's destructive and tantrum-prone mentality in stride. The bronze developed a knack for intensive work, volunteering Ae'ran for more than their share of duty on numerous occasions, but never was there the ambition to do more than was necessary in a job. Some would remark his bronze seemed more brown save for his bit of glimmer.

Even now, several turns later, Ae'ran finds himself being volunteered for runner training jobs all over Pern. If it weren't for his wing duties the pair would scarcely know what Ista looked like on the ground.

Firelizards

Lush Desert Oasis Green Kerendine
With her incredibly varied coloration, this sharp green fire lizard is a study in just how many different tones that one of her kind may be. Her hide simply seems to not be able to go more than a half centimeter without subtly or not so subtly changing in color. The shape of these areas of shifting color is quite noticeable— many of them 'fingered' and pointed, some ovular and some straight but each and every one taking on a possible shape for a leaf and thus giving this little one a veritable 'jungle on legs and wings' look to her. Each of her delicate and fine-boned limbs grows progressively darker as they near the body only to fade again into long, lighter stripes of grass-like color at the hips and shoulders. Colors across her back range from near-white to a large expanse of a verdant color so dark that it gives the appearance of blue-black, coming in a large circular swath at the very center of her back. Surrounded by her wild and leafy hide, it seems to speak of a hidden pool of water is surrounded by the lushness of a thriving jungle. Most noticeable however is the sweetly expressive face, faceted eyes shining almost shyly from her leafy face.
Kerendine is is 45 centimeters in length with a wingspan of 73 cm.

Rolled Off The Wagon Brown Kaiden
Smutty umbars dapple the rich mahogonay of this little flit, giving him a dusty apearance even when clean. His wide little wings shimmer with the same dapples but over a dove-like tan sails that spread long. The mahogany thickens into deep tones, almost black, over his head, legs, and tail.
Kaiden is is 54 centimeters in length with a wingspan of 86 cm.

Dragon

River of Molten Magma Bronze Knephyth

This particular dragon is of only just above average size and roughly average build. He does not appear to be excessively muscular nor incredibly agile and his physical dimensions will certainly set no records. Nonetheless, he at once catches the eye for his startling ambiguity of color. His base tones are a very, very dark shade of near brown, oddly reflective but not quite metallic. Talons of similar near-slate combine with the above further his appearance of a brown dragon at a quick glance. A second or longer look reveals jagged protrusions of coppery metal framing the lines of his limbs and a speckling of lighter colors within those slate talons. The true clinch of the matter is to be found from the base of his head to the end of his tail. Indeed, along this long ridge of tougher flesh a warm and metallic near-red gives the impression of molten magma that has been poured over an unsuspecting formation of rock, intense heat forging it into something greater. This randomly 'poured' expanse of color descends in molten rivulets all the way to the beginnings of his shoulders and hips and to roughly mid-flank. There, the brilliant flow seems to cool and fade through tones of bronze into hardened shale.
Knephyth has a length of 37.83 meters, and a wingspan of 63.05 meters.
